COVID-19

Special Olympics Alberta and by extension, Special Olympics Calgary, will be suspending across the province, all sport training, competition and other fundraising activations until April 14, at which time the situation will be re-evaluated.

Although the risk of infection in Alberta is still low, our members have a heightened risk so we have decided to take the necessary measures. We hope that we will be able to resume programs and events after April 14, but there is a possibility that we will need to extend the suspension. We will continue to monitor the situation and work with our key partners and local health authorities so that we only resume programs when we can ensure safety for our members. Protection of our athletes, volunteers, staff and families is our number one priority.

Please also know in order to ensure we are supporting the fight against the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the health and wellness of our staff and members, our office will be closed from March 16th - March 27th as staff will be working from home. You can still reach our staff through email and we look forward to staying connected with you.

Please visit our program cancellations page for updates as the situation progresses.

Thank you for your understanding. Please reach out with an questions you may have.

This annual fundraising event gives sports fans the chance to support an amazing cause, while rubbing shoulders with some of Calgary's most celebrated sport celebrities as well as Special Olympics Calgary ambassadors. Last year’s breakfast hosted more than 275 guests from Calgary’s corporate community, athletics enthusiasts, Special Olympics Athletes, and Calgary media. Funds raised at the Breakfast support more than 800 individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Calgary area. As one of our major fundraising events, this event provides essential funding for athletic programs that fosters self-esteem, and allows our athletes to make new friends while realizing their full athletic potential.
